From the website of AB: “The bond between AB and British label Touch is a long and warm one. We’ve been working together every now and then since 2011, during the legendary Domino festival with the likes of Hildur Guðnadóttir, Mika Vainio and Thomas Ankersmit. Time and time again, that has resulted in unforgettable (concert) evenings. In 2012, there was Feeërieën – with Philip Jeck, Biopshere and BJ Nilsen filling the park with their wonderful music. In 2018, there was the memorable evening in AB Salon with, again, Jeck and Yann Novak. And we had the moving Jóhann Jóhannsson Englabörn evening in the Béguinage Church. In the meantime, we welcomed a bunch of other artists associated with the label to AB: Fennesz, Simon Scott, Chris Watson, Bana Haffar, Ipek Gorgun, … and Mike Harding (one of the two founders of the label) has been a regular guest in AB: as curator, speaker or DJ.

For this latest Touch Presents… evening we invite two of the label’s spearhead artists. The famous Norwegian Jana Winderen has already been active for more than 10 years as field-recording artist / researcher of the complex and amazing underwater world. She brings the audio-topography of the oceans and the depths of icy chasms to the surface in her work and reveals sounds from hidden sources, difficult to reach places, and from ‘inaudible’ beings.

L.A. based violin-player/electronica composer Zachary Paul released his debut for Touch in 2019. A Meditation on Discord brings together two live recordings from 2018 and a short film score in which this unique artist displays his expressive range and unique playing style. His work explores the contrast between stasis and movement and questions whether both can be depicted synchronously. Live, he builds lush soundscapes via improvisation, representing the immediate experience and the environment in which they are performed. His work draws from a long lineage of artists exploring sustained tones within organic performance, including Tony Conrad, Pauline Oliveros, and La Monte Young.

Mike Harding, who established the label together with Jon Wozencroft in 1982, will speak with both composers over the course of the evening and provide the soundtrack before, during and after the concerts.”
